Steelers win MPF bowl |
Pittsburgh Steelers became super bowl winners with the type of play that was on display throughout the whole season. Never die attitude and team effort that was this teams moto that drove them and it paid off in the end. Team filled with superstars found the way to put all egos in the background and played in steelers fashion, hard nosed and more importantly dominating football.
Before the start of the season we hoped to get into playoffs and after few games we knew we can hand with any team in this league. It was just the matter of showing it on the field. There were some ups and downs during the season but manage to play the best football when it mattered the most and finished the season on highest note possible.
SB Game recap:
Game started with steelers recieving the ball. Big Ben, Mendenhall and Holomes make sure steelers went on the board first. Quick drive was capped with Big Bent qb sneak for TD. Falcons looked good on their first drive, specially HB Turner who seemed to be running at will, but after few first downs, steelers defense made a stand and stopped falcons on 3rd down just before field goal range, knocking the ball out of Tony Gonzales hands. On their second possesion were steelers able to put 3 points on board and took 10-0 lead. In second quarter Falcons looked better opponent moving the ball with easy but freezing in redzone and again steelers defense knocking down passes, so falcons came away with 3 points two times to make score 10-6 at half.
In second half Steelers defense got even tighter taking away falcons biggest weapon running game and forced the put on falcons first possesion. Then on offense Mendenhall made play of the game breaking free and ran for 34 yards, on next play he ran 15 more and set up big ben for his only TD pass of the game to FB davis. Score was 17-6 steelers. From now on it was defensive struggle. Falcons had some bad luck since they lost QB Ryan for quite some time due to injury and couldnt get in the groove, partly thanks to agressive steelers defense. Steelers used their running game to took time of the clock and capped long scoring drive at the start of the 4Q with TD. Falcons had one last change in the middle of 4q when Big ben threw INT at steelers 30 yard line but Atlanta couldnt take advantige since 2 plays later Ryan was picked by Steelers Townsed, that play sealed the deal.
End result steelers 24-falcons 6
Game mvp was no doubt R.Mendenhall who set up all 3 steelers Tds, he finished with 115 yards rushing on 18 carries and 29 yards receiving.
In the end big thanks to Fabio and all of the players for fun season. Now lets make new one even better and aim for establishing MPF as one of the best madden leagues out there. |

Are these Steelers for real? |
Pittsburgh Steelers started the season with bang, winning their first five games in spectacular fashion since all games were over before 4th quarter. Steelers displayed great teamwork, discipline and big play making ability on both sides of the ball.
Offense lead by Big Ben(who is second in the league with 120 QB rating) and bruising Rashard Mendenhall, scored more than 40 points per game(3rd in league).
On defense Steelers allowed league lowest 11.8 points per game, big thanks goes to 18 INTs(again league best). Leader of the group is no doubt MLB James Farrior who recorded already 7 INTs so far in the season and is for many early defensive MVP candidate.
But with all that said, the question remains, are the Steelers strong enough to keep this level of play throughout the whole season and into the postseason. Only time will tell. Pittsburgh game will be put to the test in upcoming weeks, speciall with equally briliant division rivals Bengals
But there are also few drak clouds in Steel city. James Harrison once leader of defense was roumored to be on his way out of the Pittsburgh. His limited performance so far and Steelers adressing thier need to bring in another CB, gave option to trade Harrison for someone younger. That might made lots of fans angry. But lately CBs Gay, Mickens and D.Smith have been playing good, so that kind of move might be ill advised at the moment. Harrison is still great player, mentor and his never die attitude is hard to find these days.
In the past Steelers showed that they have what it takes to win the SB. This team is no different, stacked with talent and great leaders they are on the right path so far. Only time will tell if they are really for real. |
